# The stage history and what comes next

The draft entered the work programme on 1 December 2023 and reached stage 40.99 on 8 September 2026. Two committee drafts and a 12 week DIS ballot preceded approval. The next recorded steps are FDIS registration, the approval stage and publication; ISO records no date for any of them.

## What the history shows

The document took two committee draft rounds before the DIS was registered. The first CD consultation closed in October 2024 and the draft was referred back to the working group in January 2025, which is why the second round ran from March to May 2025. The DIS ballot then ran for 12 weeks from 13 November 2025 to 6 February 2026, and approval was recorded on 8 September 2026.

## What to diarise

- FDIS registration at stage 50.00: the text is fixed for formal approval.

- Stage 50.20: the proof or FDIS ballot, eight weeks.

- Stage 60.00: under publication.

- Stage 60.60: published. This is the only stage that makes the standard available.

The watch checks the record for these transitions and emails the diff. The date on this site does not move because a stage slips; it is recalculated only when the stage record changes.
