## What this unit settles

Most architecture governance is built to stop things. The closing note is a reminder that significance includes opportunity: a decision that enables a new capability can be as significant as one that prevents a risk. A practice that only reviews problems will miss the decisions that create value.

## What to do in your practice

Add an opportunity column to the significance record and the architecture board agenda. For each opportunity, record the property it enables, the evidence and the decision. Balance the agenda between risk and opportunity. Give the board one opportunity and one risk at every meeting, with the property each affects. The pairing changes the quality of the discussion: the board stops treating architecture as a control function and starts using it to choose what the firm becomes.

## Who it binds

The architecture practice, as a note. The public preview does not state the annex status, so this page does not claim one.

## Evidence an auditor or regulator asks for

- The opportunity record with the property enabled.
An auditor and a board can see value creation, not only control.

- The decision and its owner.
Makes the opportunity actionable.

- The evidence of enablement.
Shows the claim is real.

- A balanced board agenda.
Proves the practice reviews both.

Ask your teamWhich significant opportunity did this practice decline to review because the agenda was full of risks?

## Common gaps this page catches

- The board agenda is entirely risk and exception.

- Opportunities are not recorded as architecture decisions.

- No evidence exists of value enabled.

## What to prepare before publication

Add the opportunity column and put one opportunity on the next agenda. Record the property it enables and the decision. Repeat until the balance is normal.
