# Architecture design and solution related entities

The subclause is the first note in Annex A, and its title places it on the entities related to architecture design and solution design. It follows the clause 3 definitions of design (3.4.1), architecture design (3.4.2) and solution design (3.4.5).

## What this unit settles

Annex A is a set of notes, so its job is to explain and connect, not to add requirements. The first note deals with the entities either side of the design split. For a firm, that is the place to check that its own design entities, the architecture and the solution, are named and related in the method.

## What to do in your practice

Write the entity chain from the architecture design to the solution design to the implementation, naming the work product at each step and its owner. Where a step is missing, the split is nominal and the practice is running one design.

## Who it binds

The architecture practice, as a note. The public preview does not state the annex status, so this page does not claim one.

## Evidence an auditor or regulator asks for

- An entity chain diagram from architecture design to implementation.
An auditor asks how the design entities relate.

- The work product and owner at each step.
Makes the chain operable.

- A note of where the chain is broken.
Shows the gap is owned.

- The review date.
Keeps the chain current.

Ask your teamWhere in this firm does architecture design end and solution design begin, and what work product marks the boundary?

## Common gaps this page catches

- The chain is implicit and different teams draw it differently.

- No work product marks the boundary.

- One owner covers both designs so the split is never tested.

## What to prepare before publication

Draw the chain for one delivery. Name the work product and owner at each step. The missing or duplicated steps are the actions.

## Common questions

What does Architecture design and solution related entities mean in ISO 42024?
The subclause is the first note in Annex A, and its title places it on the entities related to architecture design and solution design. It follows the clause 3 definitions of design (3.4.1), architecture design (3.4.2) and solution design (3.4.5).
What evidence should we keep for A.1?
An entity chain diagram from architecture design to implementation. The work product and owner at each step. A note of where the chain is broken.
